“Is Your Vacuum Losing Suction? Here’s What Might Be Going On

Dewr Customers:

We had a few customers this week come in with the same issue: “My vacuum’s not sucking like it used to!” If that sounds familiar, don’t worry—you’re not alone, and it’s usually fixable without replacing the whole machine.

Here are the top 3 reasons your vacuum might be underperforming:

  1. Clogged Filters:
Over time, filters fill with dust and debris, especially if you forget to clean or replace them regularly. A dirty filter restricts airflow, making your vacuum weak. We recommend checking your filters once a month.
  2. Blocked Hoses or Brush Rolls:
Hoses and brush rolls often get tangled with hair, strings, or even small socks (yes, we’ve seen it). Make sure everything spins freely and nothing’s jammed inside.
  3. Full Dust Bin or Bag:
Sounds basic, but it happens more than you’d think. A full dust bin/bag can reduce performance dramatically. Empty it often—even if it’s not all the way full.

Quick Tip of the Day:

If your vacuum smells a bit off (burnt or musty), sprinkle a teaspoon of baking soda inside the dustbin or bag. It helps neutralize odors and keeps your machine smelling fresh.

Need a tune-up? Drop by the shop—we offer free vacuum performance checks. Don’t let a dusty floor ruin your weekend

Until next time!
